Papaya is a tropical fruit, often seen in orange-red, yellow-green and yellow-orange hues, with a rich orange pulp. The fruit is not just delicious but whole plant parts - fruit, roots, bark and leaves have medicinal properties.
Papaya is rich in vitamin C, A and E. In addition, it contains a digestive enzyme - papain, that helps with protein digestion. Some studies also shows that papaya leaves (extract) helps increase white blood cells and platelets, normalizes clotting and repairs the liver.
Papaya leaves are traditionally used as meat tenderiser, acne medicine, appetite enhancer, to ease menstrual pain and relieve nausea.
