Omega-9 Fatty Acids
Omega-9 fatty acids are non-essential as our body can make them using other fatty acids.
They have shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Oleic acid is the common form of omega-9 fatty acid.
Common food sources include vegetable oils (e.g. olive, grapeseed and safflower), avocado, and nuts (e.g. almond, peanut and walnut).
