Teochew Style Fried Fish Porridge Recipe
A savoury and delectable rice porridge coupled with the sweetness of fresh fish slices and fragrant coriander.
Ingredients
- Batang Fish – 3 pieces
- Xndo Zero Rice – 3 packs
- Tomatoes – 2 pieces (wedges)
- Meat Balls – ½ pack (optional)
- A bunch of coriander
Soup Base:
- Water – 1.5 litres
- Tung Chai – 3 tablespoons (Rinsed)
- Ginger – 2 slices
- Light Soy Sauce – 1 tablespoon
- Fish Sauce – 1 tablespoon
- Sesame Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Directions
- Deep fry fish slices till slightly golden & set aside. Peel fish into flakes & remove bone.
- Cook soup base in a pot, bring to boil & simmer for ½ hour over low fire.
- In a small pot over the stove, scoop some soup. Add in Xndo Zero rice, meat balls, tomatoes & fried fish. Bring to boil & pour into bowl, serve with chilli, dried onions & coriander.
