Lemon Balm Extract

A perennial herb from the mint family. Lemon balm has traditionally been used to improve sleep and digestive function. It also can be consumed as a tea, taken as a supplement or applied directly to the skin as balms or lotion.
Lemon balm contains phenolic compounds, such as hydroxycinnamic acids and flavonoids, rosmarinic and caffeic acids. These phenolic compounds are known to have potent antioxidant properties.
Some studies also indicate that lemon balm extract is effective in scavenging free radicals in vivo and combating oxidative stress. It might also help with conditions related to oxidative stress, such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia.
Lemon balm may have some potential health benefits, including alleviating gastrointestinal discomfort, improving mood, and fighting some infections.
